The International Camouflage Uniform Society - ICUS

The International Camouflage Uniform Society (ICUS) is an association of collectors, researchers, curators, and historians with a mutual interest in the study of international military camouflage patterns and combat uniforms. Our Society was created in the year 2000 and maintains the largest database of research material on camouflage patterns and uniforms in the world, with a growing international membership from all continents. ICUS functions as a venue for research, a reference forum for collectors and historians, and an exchange network for purposes of trading, buying, and selling of military uniforms and accoutrements. We neither represent nor promote political ideologies of any kind and express no sympathies for governmental regimes of any sort, past or present.

The primary purpose of our Society is to encourage knowledgeable individuals to exchange information about the history, development, usage, and identification of military combat uniforms and camouflage patterns dating from their earliest origins into the present era, and to disseminate this information to the greater international collecting community. By combining our members experience, knowledge, and resources the Society aims to build upon a documented identification system from which to engage in dialogue, catalogue our respective collections, and educate the world. As such, we strive primarily to recruit any dedicated collectors, researchers, curators, camofleurs, authors, and other professionals, either with an extensive knowledge base or with an area of specialization that is complementary to the group. All individuals, however, no matter the length or scope of their knowledge and experience, are welcome and encouraged to take part in the discussions and contribute to the forum.

Via the ICUS Forum, members are encouraged to pose and answer questions, report on new developments in the field of military camouflage and combat uniforms, post brief messages with trade offers or wanted lists, and otherwise make use of the network of experienced collectors and researchers. Our site is privately owned and maintained, and new members will be screened prior to gaining access to the forum itself. It is expected that all dialogue, commentary, and discussion will be conduced in a polite, scholarly and professional manner. Expression of political, religious, and radical personal beliefs is strongly discouraged. Violation of forum rules may result in immediate expulsion. The Society also functions as an exchange network for purposes of trading uniforms and other militaria or non-commercial sales. Members are encouraged to engage in detailed dialogue and trade discussions outside of the forum itself, whenever possible, but it is permissible to post notices announcing lists of items for sale or specific items being searched for in an effort to generate interest or assistance. These lists must remain updated and removed when sufficient sales are generated or time has elapsed.

Exploitation of the resources within the forum will not be tolerated. Violations of our code of professionalism include: the use of research (physical or intellectual property, including photographs) without the permission of the owner; exploitation of the membership for commercial business purposes; sharing member contact information with non-members (for purposes of conducting commercial business or without member permission); or generally taking advantage of the forum resources without contributing anything to the group as a whole. Fraud, deceitfulness, dishonesty and unprofessional conduct are grounds for being permanently barred from the Society.
